So we have touched off a controversy about Lotto money. Is it ok to use gambling profits for education? What is your opinion?
Here is mine:
Gambling exists, right or wrong. If you do not want legal gambling your crusade lay elsewhere.
Gambling is currently funding parks among other things, is it any more moral when used in this capacity?
I feel if you allow it to exist and the moral value is questionable you have a duty to your community to make the best use of those funds, in this case, EDUCATION.
What are your thoughts?

I think that in a time of economic downturn, we need to re-distribute money to the schools and the public needs to step up and take responsibility to take care of the parks themselves. Would you volunteer to mow an open space to re-distribute money to our schools and away from the parks in times like this? I WOULD!! Or, why not have parent volunteers volunteer to take the kids who get detentions in schools out and do some physical labor to mow and pick up garbage in our parks?
ReplyDeleteThese children are our future leaders! I think lotto dollars for education is brilliant! Our economy is struggling, our teachers are assets and our schools are sinking. Lotto dollars for Education should be looked upon as an EXCELLENT investment in our community's future. Start the petition, get the signatures, where do I sign up to participate? 100% on board for the Wickerdale Walkers!
ReplyDeleteSeems like a no brainer to me! Moral issue or not for some people it is needed. Not a hard decision. Why would anyone be too righteous to accept lotto money?
